Sage has just announced and released the new TARPON ONE version of the popular SALT R8 series of fly rods. This is a new one-piece design, offered only in 11wt and it is limited to 150 pieces total. This is a fun one and you know we at Salt Fly Pro wouldn't miss it. The very talented people who design and build the rods at Sage are excellent and always do the highest quality work - This rod is their masterpiece.

As one of the top Sage saltwater dealers, we have naturally known about this rod being in development for quite awhile as a secret project. We were interested from the very beginning. Now we can finally tell everyone about it. The regular 4-piece SALT R8 11wt is a best-seller here at our shop for Tarpon rods. As you can imagine, this one-piece rod is even better than that already high bar of performance. If you own a convertible that will help, because this rod is 8'10" and does not get any smaller. A rod tube is not included so the best way to transport this rod would probably be a roof-mounted fly rod system or directly inside your flats boat.

Is this your next Tarpon rod? If you have a place to put it, by all means get one. Those of you not living in Florida or similar proximity to saltwater may have a tougher time justifying this purchase, but believe me just get the 4-piece version as it is excellent. Or if you want something closer to one-piece performance you can go for a 2-piece rod such as the Scott Sector which is offered in both 2- and 4-piece variants in the 11wt size. That particular 2-piece rod does come with a rod tube which is helpful as well.
