Orvis Helios D Fly Rod Combo Outfits - New!

We offer many excellent combos, most of which we have customized to improve them from their original spec. These combos are the "ORVIS Spec" meaning they were designed by Orvis, and we are making just a few small modifications like which backing or fly line is included in the combos. We mostly use Scientific Anglers - Fun Fact: Orvis owns Scientific Anglers so that's who is making all their fly lines anyway. And it gives us more options and types of lines since Orvis really only has a few in their lineup. The main difference from the photos is that we usually put blue backing on instead of the hot orange Orvis usually puts on reels (again, this is all still Scientific Anglers backing and line really anyway). As for the fly lines we tailor that selection to each specific rod size and length. For example the 9'0" 5wt is an all-around Trout fly rod so we would go with SA Infinity or MPX. You can call or email us to request a different fly line, it's usually no problem to switch it out. Or if you want something from a different brand like RIO for example. Reels will usually be the same as what Orvis uses in their combos, but we like to offer some color options and you can also request to upgrade or change the reel that comes in each combo (call or email us). The photos here show combos with and without the fighting butt, which is just based on the rod weight/size. Again, we can take care of all the selections or you can customize each aspect of any combo we sell. Let us know and we will help you with it.

About the HELIOS D Fly Rods:

*Technically Orvis is just calling these new rods "Helios" without a version number but it's the 4th generation so we call it the 4D to make it more clear which version this is.
