  • Experience one of the world's most prolific saltwater fly fishing destinations
  • Wade-fish with professional South African saltwater guides
  • Enjoy world-class accommodations and dining
  • Take advantage of a long list of additional activities, included snorkeling, diving, sailing, kayaking and more
  • Target large bonefish, trevally, milkfish, and a host of other flats and bluewater species

Fishing Program

With 10,000 acres of hard white sand that provide easy wading and world class sight-fishing, the uninhabited and expansive flats surrounding the Alphonse atolls provide the setting for an experience of a lifetime. The atolls are home to large populations of bonefish, as well as three different types of triggerfish, barracuda, snapper, grouper, Indo-Pacific permit, parrotfish, eight species of trevally - including giant trevally - and the incomparable milkfish. This diversity gives anglers the opportunity to target a myriad of different species during their stay.

Most of the fishing is done in St. Francois lagoon which is a 40-minute boat ride from the fishing center on Alphonse. Guests typically fish two per guide and once in the lagoon, anglers and their guides board flats skiffs to access the atoll's numerous flats. The vast majority of the fishing is done by wading the flats but there are times when water levels will require fishing from the boat. There are also three offshore-ready vessels, should guests want to target pelagic species such as sailfish, wahoo and yellowfin tuna.

Accommodations

The luxurious Alphonse Island resort features a main lodge, swimming pool and a beautiful outdoor dining area. Accommodation ranges from bungalows, to suites, to villas. All built alongside the water's edge, with spectacular ocean views. Most fishing guests stay in single occupancy bungalows. Ideally situated to make the most of the beautiful surrounding these bungalows exude an understated elegance. They feature a patio overlooking the ocean and a gorgeous outdoor shower.

The menus at Alphonse Island Lodge are built around fresh-caught local fish and produce from the garden. Entwining the influences of local Seychellois Creole and French cuisine, their meals take inspiration from all corners of the Indian Ocean.
