Sage Arrow Fly Rod Review - Coming Soon
Looks like the Fly Fishing Forum members have posted more news and leaked info on upcoming fly rods. This includes the recently leaked Sage POWER R8 and also this new Sage ARROW which replaces the Sage Sonic.
Orvis also just released their new Orvis Recon fly rods, updated for 2026. The freshwater models of those will compete directly with this Sage Arrow, and the saltwater models are up against the Sage Maverick and Scott Wave.
Will anything else be coming out this year to compete? Maybe... The Sonic wasn't the only mid-priced rod discontinued at the end of last year... Stay tuned!

We will do a review once we get our hands on the new rods but for now enjoy the *rumors* posted by these guys in the forum. When we get more info and a hands-on review we will update.
Is the new rod any good? Most likely yes, it is. It looks nice. The guys making the products at Sage are great, just the new management is the problem there causing them lots of issues.
In terms of other fly rod brands there are lots of very nice competitors at this price point. The $600-$750 price point has long been the domain of Orvis, Sage, and Scott with a few other brands mixed in there. So that's some heavy hitters offering both fresh and saltwater "mid-priced" rods.
What is a mid-priced rod anymore? Rumors put this one at $725 according to the forum members which is pretty close to the other brands offerings (Scott is at $695 for the Session and Wave rods). Isn't the "high end" of fly rods $1,100 or so? Should you just spend a few hundred more dollars? Or if budget is the issue, spend less and get a nice TFO or an Orvis Clearwater for example? Up to you.
If you can read the picture this looks like it has Sage's previous gen tech in it, again fairly normal for these rods and the Sonic did something similar.
Anyway we will update this post once we get our hands on these new rods.
